That swap will work well and you'll have noticeable gains in power, as long as you do it properly. The problem is that parts will nickel and dime you to death. You'll need injectors, cold air intake setup, bigger throttle body and spacer, headers, ecm, maf, maf swap harness. You will spend over a grand on that stuff and if you are using a used ecm, then go ahead and expect to have issues to address. Old wiring, sensors, vacuum lines, tps... all that stuff was state-of-the-art at the time, but now it pales in comparison to the newer efi systems. So you can upgrade to that, but then you're doubling the cost.

A cheaper option would be a carb swap. Way cheaper and less problems. You'll spend more time enjoying the car and less time trying to figure out all the problems that come with early efi systems and old electronics.

A throttle body style efi system is a decent compromise, but do your homework on which system is best.
