Tail lights on a 1982

Wondering if any one has tried to swap out tail lights I have a 1982 with 3 sockets design wanted to put in a LED design for a 1987 - 1993 that has 4 sockets I know I have to cut my rear panel but the wiring is a bit different between the two I found they run the stop on a separate line compared to the 82 it shares a line through the stop switch
