1979 Pace Car Unsolved Mystery

Hello out there,
Haven't been on this site in quite a while as I talked about this subject in a thread a long time ago. As now a 61 year old man I'm not really a Mustang nut, but do like them though especially the Fox Bodies, owning mostly G-body cars for years. Bought a Pace Car edition around 2 years ago some 8 miles away. Original Paint, rough but not really rotted out, complete rough interior, etc. etc. This had not been on the road since 1988. Purchased a Marti report for my car and it checked out perfectly as a real pace car. Pretty standard 302 Automatic. No options, no air, no power options etc. etc. Although the 302 automatic is the rarest of the bunch. Here's the skinny - When removing rear interior - behind the rear hatch panels was a washer fluid bottle. The filler neck also extends upward to a factor cut hole in between the hatch rain channel and the hatch weatherstrip. These were obviously made that way for a rear window wiper car, which they did make but is extremely rare on the Pace Car.
The100,000 question is, why was my particular car set up for a rear wiper car with the washer fluid bottle? Were a lot of them done that way to save time? Were all of them done that way to save time? Or is mine a factory mistake or oddity to where someone on the line said, "Shit , this isn't a rear wiper car so we'll just stuff a washer fluid bottle behind the rear hatch panel and plug the hole with the filler neck grommet."
Would love to know the story on that, as do I have something that's quite a bit different than anybody else's to be a good conversation piece?

Thanks for anyone's time
